Systems Administrator 3 (Remote Option Available)

Charleston (W.Va.) Area Medical Center General Hospital

This is a Full-time position in Charleston, WV posted June 9, 2021.

Job Summary Responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems within the Information Services Department.

Ensures the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the systems, meet the service level agreements of the organization.

May acquire, install, or upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot; train and/or supervise staff; or offer technical support for projects.

Experience with Exchange Administration/MO365/Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google) preferred.

Responsibilities Usually works under intermediate supervision, conferring with Manager/Supervisor on unusual matters May be assisted by Entry/Junior or Intermediate Level Personnel.

May mentor, train, and monitor Entry/Junior staff members for assigned work Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.

Has appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action or decision Under intermediate supervision, performs work that is varied and that is difficult in character involving responsibility, including, but not limited to, the following: Write operational automation scripts/programs to minimize manual processes.

Write and maintain documentation for staff members and operators to use for the management of assigned application(s).

This would also relate to knowledge base entries for Customer Support Center.

Troubleshoot daily problems and provide resolutions with minimal support.

Apply maintenance as required to keep system O/S current and to resolve problems.

Maintain and write programs to support changes/enhancements to system.

Demonstrates an understanding of the vendor’s version control, update processes, and maintenance and support processes.

Demonstrates an understanding of the automation capabilities of a given O/S.

Demonstrates an understanding of performance tuning tools available for a particular O/S and assigned application(s), and the ability to work with other I/S team members, as required, concerning performance tuning and capacity planning.

Demonstrates the ability to review audit logs (e.g., performance, security, error logs, etc.) and respond appropriately.

Demonstrates an understanding of current and future customer workflow requirements that relate to ongoing support and new implementations.

On path for to complete certification/accreditation for specific vendor and/or governing body related to specific applications/tools for which responsible Demonstrates understanding of the RFQ/RFP process.

Education Bachelor’s Degree (Required) Substitution: May substitute more than 8 years of related experience for the bachelor degree.

Experience: 5-8 years of related professional information technology support experience and completion of Formal Software Training with applicable vendors within 12 months of hire.
