Technical Accounting Senior Manager

MVB

This is a Full-time position in Morgantown, WV posted May 3, 2021.

MVB is hiring trusted partners on the financial frontier! The Technical Accounting Manager will participate as a key contributor to the accounting and finance functions and will have the responsibility for performing research, providing recommendations and drafting policies and position papers on complex or emerging technical accounting issues.

The position will also be responsible for assisting in the research, assessment and implementation of newly issued and adopted accounting standards. Additionally, the Technical Accounting Manager will lead or assist with other projects or functions, including mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, capital market debt and equity transactions, etc. These areas are critical to the closing and reporting processes in regard to SEC, FDIC, Federal Reserve and other regulatory reporting requirements, as well as financial and operational information for internal management reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs technical accounting and regulatory research and drafts policies and position papers
  • Performs research and assists in the implementation of newly issued and adopted accounting standards
  • Leads complex projects on a team or independent basis
  • Prepares, analyzes or reviews internal documents used in the financial reporting process
  • Coordinate with Fintech group to ensure proper accounting analysis of departmental activities
  • Serves as a resource for, and assists in the development and implementation of, best practices for certain technical accounting concerns
  • Participates in the preparation or review of reports filed with the SEC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, etc.
  • Assists in the internal and external audit process by providing support and explanation for financial information
  • Demonstrates fluent knowledge of internal controls, processes and procedures
  • Provides assistance as needed in other areas of financial and operational reporting
  • Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years
  • CPA, SEC reporting, public accounting and/or banking experience strongly preferred
  • Accounting system knowledge and experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong analytical, investigative, documentation and problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented professional with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Possess strong ownership and accountability of work product
  • Ability to lead, manage and prioritize multiple projects, tasks or work flows
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Possess advanced technical PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Works with purpose and a sense of urgency, deadline focused and commitment driven
  • This role is temporarily remote and provides the potential to permanently work from home, dependent on location.
